We need YOU! Where the chemistry happens As the Production Director for Acrylates and Oxo/Syngas units in the Petrochemical Division, you will be accountable for the strategic and tactical execution of the operations and technology for the Glacial Acrylic Acid, 2 Ethyl Hexyl Acrylate, Butyl Acrylate, Oxo Alcohols and Syngas units in Freeport which are integral to the Industrial Petrochemical Business value chain.
The manufacturing area is a complex operation at the Freeport site that contains five operating plants with multiple unit operations divided across 2 production blocks.
Production is regulated by OSHA PSM (Process Safety Management) and EPA RMP (Risk Management Plan) due to the handling of propylene, alcohols, and other covered chemicals.
You will provide leadership, direction, and focus for all operations activities.
You will be responsible for all fixed costs and capital investment in the plants as well as the on-going strategic development of the technology.
You will be indirectly responsible, in partnership with Maintenance, for the maintenance budget.
You will serve as a member of the Industrial Petrochemical Manufacturing Leadership Team and the Operations Director Peer Group at the Freeport Verbund.
You will interact with peers across 5 different business units and site infrastructure.
You also play a critical role in the leadership of a broad range of activities and people & team development including building a high performing team, developing, and empowering talent throughout the organization, coaching, influencing, and guiding others, and ensuring that all processes and activities comply with BASF policies, regulations and our values for safety, quality, environmental and financial stewardship.
As a Production Director, You Create Chemistry By Achieving and increasing maximum utilization rates of all assets while maintaining a sustainable operations mode.
Being responsible for asset replacement value, striving for continuous improvement regarding fix costs reduction and implementing operational excellence to increase efficiency.
Embracing digitalization with a clear focus on improving the overall performance and operability of the plants.
Achieving best-in-class levels of leading and lagging indicators regarding EHS performance to embrace BASF s highest priority, safety.
Identifying and managing all operational risks including EHS, regulatory, quality, cost, equipment optimization and reliability.
Leading and coaching more than 70 direct and indirect reports on the basis of BASF s CORE values, embracing diversity and communicating effectively to collaborate for achievement.
Building and maintaining team structures to sustainably operate assets safely and reliably.
Successfully leading through major turnarounds every 3 years - next one upcoming in 2025.
If you Have an academic background in a technical degree program coupled with strong experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Drive a culture where process safety, continuous improvement, product innovation, breakthrough performance, and an enjoyable work environment are expectations of all team members.
Have experience in operations and maintenance.
Possess the ability to coach and develop personnel into high-performance teams.
