Purpose


Performs a variety of customer service related work in mechanical, piping, controls and HVAC Chilled Water and Hydronic Heating Systems. The service work includes but is not limited to installation, repair and troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment.


Responsibilities


1. All activities covered under Mechanic I.
2. Ability to perform soldering, burning and to conduct service and repairs such as valve rebuilding,
repacking and replacement, reading and interpreting mechanical prints, understanding principles
and components of steam, hot water, chilled water and HVAC distribution and basic controls.
3. To test, repair, replace and service major steam, condensate, hot water and chilled water
components such as pumps, steam traps, heat exchangers and hot water systems.
4. Proficient understanding and use of all conventional tools and meters to maintain, repair, calibrate
and test components found in the systems described above.
5. Prepare technical reports to accurately describe conditions and work performed.
6. Prepares appropriate service documentation for billing and completion of service orders.
7. Prepare work scope and price estimates for project work.
8. Maintain and develop good customer relations while promoting the image of the company.


Work Environment:


  • Required to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs.
  • Required to work in all weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications


Education/Experience/Background:


  • 5 plus years of experience working in the trades in a field service role.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Required to be trained or already trained as an Associated Asbestos Worker to perform related duties.
  • Required adhering to customer and facility rules and regulations.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:


  • Requires no less than the following licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts:
    1. Journeyman Pipefitter
    2. Refrigeration Technician (HVAC)
    3. either Electrician or Plumber

  • Must also have a MA driver's license, minimum Class 3 and safe driving record.

Physical Requirements:


  • Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) where proper safety procedures warrant their use.
  • Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
