We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Systems and Training Specialist at our Freeport, TX location! Primary Function:
The Safety Systems and Training Specialist administers safety systems used throughout the site and plans, evaluates, reviews, coordinates, and conducts a wide variety of training and safety planning and implementation for site safety efforts.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
This position may require any of the following functions:
Support site Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and support development and modification.
Provide guidance on the application of health and safety programs to Production, Maintenance, and Engineering Departments.
Support site follow up on action items and incident investigations.
Support site safety software development and implementation.
Support technology and tool development for field safety facilitator activities.
Administer safety software solutions to include safety management software, learning management system (LMS) and digital signage.
Prepare monthly safety department report.
Update site Key Performance Indicators in the department monthly report and through digital signage.
Develop monthly safety emphasis topics, monthly safety patrol topic and weekly safety bulletin.
Support the development, implementation and assessment of the Site Health and Safety Training Programs, such as LOTO, Confined Space Entry, General Chemical Hazards, Hearing Conservation, etc.
Activities include, but are not limited to:
the assessment of plant health and safety training needs; development of practical, effective solutions to those needs; aiding the implementation of solutions and assessing the effectiveness of the solutions.
Maintain established health and safety training programs in accordance with the site requirements, ensuring reporting requirements are met and the programs remain current with updated regulations.
Support development of training packages for site safety and health programs.
Develop technical reports to document the evaluation status of training and training projects.
Develop site communicate process for training notifications and monitor employee training status.
Develop competent person process and maintain up to date records of site competent persons.
Support form development and administrative tools required for policy implementation.
Support and training employee on safety software systems.
Perform new hire orientation for Shintech and K-Bin employees.
Support other site departments in their training program process as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
Experience:
5 years' experience in a Safety and/or operations role within the chemical, manufacturing, or oil refining industry is required.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines including:
OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, NIOSH, and DOT Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated ability to analyze multi-faceted situations/problems/concepts along with the capacity to venture beyond core competencies Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills with effective interpersonal skills Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines Team oriented, flexible and able to work with minimal supervision Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products, primarily the use of word processing, health and safety database applications, presentation and spreadsheet software.
Ability to develop training material in a learning management system Ability to prepare videos through software system preferred Ability to read, write, and speak English in a clear, concise manner Authorized to work in the United States without Sponsorship Physical Requirements:
Candidate must be able to:
Lift up-to 20 pounds regularly and up-to 50 pounds occasionally Regularly required to sit, stand, or walk in the facility Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and manipulate objects Bend, reach, kneel, and stoop occasionally Ability to wear PPE such as hard hat, safety shoes, protective clothing, safety harness, safety glasses, and respiratory protection (as required) Work Environment:
PVC manufacturing facility, in presence of chemicals Work is performed mostly indoors (climate controlled) and occasionally outdoors (non-climate controlled) Moderate noise-level and environmental vibration related to equipment Competencies:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
