Mechanic
POSITION
Summary:
Assist with preventative maintenance, repairs to large and small trucks, pumps, and record keeping associated with the repairs and maintenance.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
1. Work with maintenance foreman in completing repairs on VES-IS equipment.
2. Own and maintain in good condition an industry standard collection of tools.
3. Participate in maintenance program by not only performing repairs, but also by analyzing the root causes of the equipment damage.
4. Diagnose mechanical problems to minimize the need for extensive replacement of parts.
5. Utilize preventative maintenance techniques to eliminate on the job problems.
6. Use road calls not only to solve on the job problems, but communicate these problems so that similar episodes may be minimized.
7. Keep a clean organized work area.
8. Participate actively in safety and accident prevention programs.
9. Continually upgrade technical knowledge, and act as an information source for service crews.

2. Ability to use 'decision tree style thinking for ascertaining cause of mechanical problems.

4. Ability to visualize in three dimensions.
5. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and blueprints.
6. Have a good understanding of all product line functions
7. Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms.
8. Basic math skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Pass a medical and drug test.
2.Physically capable of performing all duties and responsibilities assigned. Specifically, lift 50 pounds.
1. Ability to work in adverse work conditions, varying from very hot to very cold.
2. Able to work in very wet environments as well as very dry environments.
3. Physically capable of standing, shoveling and performing other types of physical work for long periods of time.
4. Capable of working long shifts under adverse conditions (up to 16 hours a day, and up to 14 days in a row).
5. Medically and physically capable of wearing respirator while performing the above listed work.
6. 100% ability to stay focused on surrounding hazards at all times while performing job requirements in extremely hazardous work environments (i.e. steel mills, power plants, refineries, chemical plants, etc).
