Improvement Engineer - Stratton Ridge Operations

Olin Chlor Alkali Products & Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation, has an opening for an Improvement Engineer for the Stratton Ridge Operations Brine Mining Assets, located in Freeport, Texas. Under the supervision of the Brine Assets Leader, the Improvement Engineer will apply knowledge of brine mining technology and Olin engineering processes to identify, develop and implement projects to increase capability, reduce variation and improve asset utilization of the Brine Mining Assets at Stratton Ridge Operations (SRO).  The Brine Mining Improvement Engineer will be responsible for productivity improvement project management as well as capital project management. The Brine Mining Improvement Engineer will work closely with the Brine Assets Leader, the Business Global Improvement Leader, and other Improvement Engineers to develop, implement, and use the Engineering and Improvement work practices and processesrequired to effectively manage capital projects, expense projects, and other improvement opportunities at Stratton Ridge Operations.  This individual will be accountable for the efficiency of project implementation and the effectiveness of the overall Improve function at the facility. Essential Job Responsibilities: Collaborates with Stratton Ridge Operations (SRO) plant operations personnel to identify technology gaps, improvement opportunities, and reliability enhancements Evaluates identified improvement opportunities using internal and external benchmarking data and plant process data Leads the SRO Brine Mining Plant Improvement Team and assures proper implementation and use of opportunity identification and evaluation tools Develops and maintains the SRO Plant Technology Plan (PTP) Develops and maintains the 5-year strategic plan for capital and extraordinary expense projects at SRO Secures capital and expense funding for SRO projects by representing the plant in the project prioritization process Fulfills Project Manager and/or Manufacturing Representative role for capital and expense projects to enable effective implementation of high priority projects Leads the process to evaluate options and propose solutions in the early Front End Loading (FEL) stages of projects to ensure performance improvement against the facility key performance measures (e.g. safety, asset utilization, production capacity, etc.) Implements Most Effective Technology (MET) where needed Develops operating discipline related to projects, including procedures for safe start-up and continued operations, and trains operations personnel on process improvement projects Provides data to validate that projects deliver performance objectives after implementation Develops and maintains Asset Utilization and Asset Capability data, including the SRO Brine Supply/Demand Balance and SRO Salt Reserves Calculations and Models Develops and maintains the 5-year turnaround strategy for SRO and updates the Turnaround Management System (TMS) Serves as Subject Matter Expert for any appointed areas of expertise (e.g. process safety, process area, equipment, work process disciplines, etc.) Provides technical plant support in specialized areas, which could include process simulation, modeling, risk analysis, process control, and process optimization Participates in or leads safety, environmental, or quality investigations as needed.  Completes personal corrective actions as assigned Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, chemical or mechanical preferred A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience is required, chemical manufacturing experiencepreferred Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment, including cross-functional and cross-company teams Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - verbal and written Work experience with managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids and development of desired solutions for projects is preferred Demonstrated use of order processing systems, project management software, spreadsheet and Microsoft Office systems and SAP experiencepreferred Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education This position is not eligible for an expat assignment Olin does not provide any form of sponsorship to applicants not authorized to work in the US. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
